Backflow prevention assemblies are installed on a variety of water supply lines which includes sprinkler/standpipe systems. This assembly prevents contaminated water from flowing backward into a municipality’s water supply and may also prevent your sprinkler system from achieving full water flow. NFPA 25 sets out the requirement for inspections to make sure that the sprinkler systems is fully functional.
NFPA 25 requires daily/weekly visual inspection, monthly visual inspection and an annual function test that checks the full forward flow. After the full forward flow test, the technician will complete a certification test in accordance with your municipality’s water works regulations.
